OLSON ANCESTORS
Olson Ancestors in a book chronicling my family history, family tree, and my personal history. This book is an attempt to gather all of the disparate information my family has kept over the years about our ancestry into a single location, so that it can be used as a further reference in the future, and be looked upon as a relic of its time. This book is a non-traditional take on genealogical documentation and research, showcasing both the data on my family, while revealing my human connections to them.
PROBLEM
Much of the information on my family and my relatives was scattered, with various branches being completely unknown or undocumented. Much of this information is kept only in the heads of my grandparents, or places that are difficult to access. The same went for the various images of my ancestors, they were unorganized and scattered.
SOLUTION
To document all of the information of my family tree, I interviewed members of my family, gathered photography, and collected all of my family history into one place. I designed this book to emphasize my connections to each of my family, creating layouts to represent my closeness and distantness to parts of my family.
