Title Sequence 2024
BUT I'M A CHEERLEADER!
For this project I created a title sequence for a film, including both a production company logo animation, and a sequence introducing the names of actors and other important creators. I chose the film But I’m a Cheerleader (1999), a satirical comedy romance movie following a young cheerleader who is sent to a colorful gay conversion therapy camp.
PROBLEM
This title sequence was required to include a logo design for a production company, an animated version of the logo, and multiple scenes to establish various characters in the story. This project also required thoughtful audio design, from music to sound effects.
SOLUTION
I chose to lean into this film’s critique of traditional gender roles using visuals from the film, and a distinct pink and blue color scheme, all set to the song “Stupid Cupid” by Wanda Jackson. I styled the sequence after 1960’s cartooning and illustration styles to follow the themes of the story.
